Welcome to the first edition of our Bowen Statues Spotlight, where we feature iconic statues from the legendary sculptor Randy Bowen and his company, Bowen Designs. In this spotlight, we’re showcasing a powerful villain from the Marvel Universe—the monstrous Abomination.
Statue Description
The Bowen Designs Abomination Statue, released in 2008, stands a commanding 13 inches tall. Sculpted by Randy Bowen himself, this statue perfectly captures the raw, gamma-infused power of Emil Blonsky. The detailing is exceptional—from the sinewy muscle definition to the grotesque facial sculpt, Abomination is depicted mid-roar atop a rocky display base that adds to the sense of scale and menace.
Limited to approximately 800–1000 pieces, this cold-cast resin statue remains a top-tier piece for serious Marvel collectors.
Character History: Who Is the Abomination?
Created by writer Stan Lee and artist Gil Kane, Abomination first appeared in Tales to Astonish #90 in 1967. Emil Blonsky, a former KGB agent, transforms into a gamma-irradiated monster after deliberately exposing himself to more radiation than Bruce Banner.
Unlike the Hulk, Abomination retains his intellect but loses any sense of humanity. Over the years, he’s been one of the Hulk’s deadliest foes, appearing in several key story arcs, including:
- Incredible Hulk #159 – A classic, early battle with Bruce Banner.
- Incredible Hulk #270–271 – Featuring a brainwashed Abomination used as a pawn.
- Hulk: Abominable (2003) – A gritty tale showcasing the full brutality of Blonsky.
Abomination also appears in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, portrayed by Tim Roth in The Incredible Hulk (2008) and again in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law on Disney+.
